Around the MIAA


The Adrian College women's cross country team was idle this week, but will race this weekend at the Inter-Regional Rumble in Oberlin, Ohio.


Natalie Purcell, a junior from Grand Blanc, Mich., was the top runner for the Albion College women's cross country team in a Friday meet hosted by Concordia University. Purcell finished sixth overall, reaching the finish in 22:41.56.


The women's cross country team took 12th place in the Lansing Invitational on Friday (Oct. 5) at Grant Woods Park in Lansing. Junior Aubrey Hemstreet was the fastest on the women's side (20:08.5).

No. 12 Calvin

Calvin took eighth place with 215 points at Lansing C.C. Invite. Carly Bogdajewicz took 31st with a time of 19.59.4

No. 9 Hope

The Hope College women's cross country team competed in the Lansing Community College Invitational Friday and saw several runners clock new personal records. The Flying Dutch placed sixth out of 21 after scoring 202 points. “It was a very competitive race that allowed for many freshmen and sophomores to PR,” head coach Mark Northuis said. Sophomore Claire Muckian of Saint Charles, Illinois (East HS) finished first for the Flying Dutch. She took 39th overall with a time of 20 minutes and 19 seconds. Hope was ranked ninth in last week's USTFCCCA NCAA Division III poll.


The Kalamazoo College women's cross country team finished 13th at the Lansing Invitational held at Grand Woods Park on Friday. MIAA Runner of the Week Rachael Gallap finished the 5K event in 19:58 to finish 29th overall. Hannah Hamilton was 50th at 20:44 while Maria Bonvicini came in 64th at 21:09. Kalamazoo competes again next Saturday, Oct. 13 at Pre-Nationals at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wis.


The Olivet College women's cross country team placed 16th at the Lansing Community College Invitational. Morgan Greenman crossed the finish line in 67th-place with a personal-best time of 21:11.8 for the 5K course.

Saint Mary's

The Belles placed ninth at the Bethel Invitational, which featured five nationally-ranked NAIA programs. Katie Glenn ran a personal record time of 19:44.8 to lead the Belles. Sarah Allen added a 5K PR, and Adele Edmonds, Riley Swope, and Gabby Russell all had season-best 5K times to score for the Belles.
