2019 MIAA Year In Review - Volleyball

Among the highlights from the 2019 season:

- Calvin advanced to the NCAA Division III Volleyball final eight before falling 3-2 to Trinity (Texas). The Knights advanced to the National Quarterfinals after defeating Hope in the Regional Final, which marked the fourth time the two teams faced off during the season.

- Calvin won both the MIAA regular season and tournament titles for the third consecutive year, defeating Hope 3-1 in the MIAA Tournament Championship game.

- Calvin's Sarah DeVries was named the 2019 TeamSnap/AVCA Division III Player of the Year. DeVries' honor marked the seventh time in nine seasons a Calvin volleyball player was named National Player of the Year; DeVries is one of five Division III volleyball players since 1985 to be a two-time National Player of the Year.

- The MIAA hosted the first-ever MIAA-NCAC Crossover CHallenge Sept. 6-7, where 18 teams met in Lansing, Mich. The MIAA prevailed in the 27-match event, winning 15 matches. Calvin and Olivet went 3-0 as the only unbeaten teams in the event, and all nine MIAA programs earned at least one victory.
