Around the MIAA


The Adrian College women’s track and field team set a slew of PRs on Saturday at the Tiffleberg Open. Kyla Sovran PR’d in the 400-meter race and a pair of freshmen joined in. Sydney Feekings PR’d in both the 800-meter and 1500-meter and Torrie Summers set a personal best in the 200-meters and 100-meters. Adrian’s last notable PR was freshman Randy Swank’s new PR of 111’6” in the discus throw to earn AC a team point on the weekend. Senior Rayona Hart-Wilson picked up six team points, finishing in third place in the long jump with a distance of 16’11.5”.

No. 39 Albion

Albion College racked up 115.5 points to finish second in the Marv Frye Invitational. The discus throw was Albion’s best field event, with ShaQuoria Thompson winning at 135’ 5” and Anna Albaugh the runner up at 127’ 10”. Thompson also scored third place in the shot put at 40’ 9.75”. Sprinters Emilee Kinney, Alexis McGinley, Chalara Sutton and Layla Wilks moved up to ninth on the Division III performance list when they blazed to first place in 48.37 seconds. Wilks added a second-place finish in the 100 (12.51) and 200 (25.79), while Sutton was third in the 200 (26.19). Cianna Brown won the 400 meters in a season best time (1:00.13).

Calving competed in the Michigan State Spartans Invitational last weekend. Katie Diekema had a season-best time of 4:35.36 in the 1500, ranked seventh on D3 performance list. Many Knights had season-best performance times in their event. (Katie Diekema, Michelle Koetje, Maria Kuiper, Annie Needs, Emma Schroer, Abbie Cooley, Stephanie Coors.)


Hope College's Hailey Pickelheimer clocked a season-best time in the 400-meter hurdles en route to a first-place performance at the Wheaton College Invitational on Saturday. The junior from Powell, Ohio finished in 1:07.12 to lead a group of three Flying Dutch runners who scored in the event. Hope placed fourth out of 13 teams with 106 points.


The Olivet College women's track and field team competed Friday and Saturday at the MSU Spartan Invitational. Kaylee Richardson was ninth in the unseeded 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:37.71. Ariel Floyd finished ninth of 43 competitors in the hammer throw with a 153-foot toss. Several other Comets achieved new personal-bests.

No. 38 Trine

Competed at the unscored Taylor University George Glass Invitational...Evie Bultemeyer won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a school-record time of 10:54.30 and was over 40 seconds faster than the nearest opponent...Andrea Hagar placed in the top 10 in three field events that included ninth in the shot put (37' 1.75"), fourth in the discus (123' 7.00"), and fourth in the hammer throw (147' 0.00").
