Around the MIAA

Adrian

The Adrian College women’s track team competed at the Dick Small Memorial at Defiance College and the Midwest Elite Invitational at Wisconsin-Whitewater last weekend, splitting its squad between the two, with the best results coming at the Midwest Elite Invitational. Sophomore sprinter Taylor Sinclair had the team’s best finish, seventh place in the 200-meter dash. Sinclair moved into third place in the conference with a time of 26.63. Freshman distance runner Corrisa Hamilton had a PR in the mile and classmate hurdler Torrie Summers set a new PR in the 60-meter hurdles. Summers moved into fourth place in the MIAA after Saturday’s performance.


No. 15 Albion

Cassie Vince (Amherst, Ohio) is second on the Division III performance list in the mile (4:51.95), 3,000 (9:31.07) and 5,000 (16:27.99)…ShaQuoria Thompson (Waxahachie, Texas) set a season best with a mark of 14.84 meters (48’ 8”) in a fourth place finish in the weight throw at Aquinas College last Saturday. Thompson also scored a third-place finish in the shot put.

Alma

The Scots finished in fifth place at the Aquinas College Little Meet on Saturday (Feb. 9). Freshmen Elizabeth Gotaas (Alma, Mich.) and Morgan Johnson finished the women's 1000-meter run within a second of each other, while senior Erin Goggins (Hastings, Mich.) placed third in the pole vault with her 3.27-meter leap.


No. 45 Calvin

The Calvin women’s track and field team split its squad last weekend with its distance harriers running on Friday at the GVSU Big Meet while the remainder of its team competed at the Aquinas College Little Meet. At the Aquinas College Little Meet – Calvin took sixth with 16 points. A highlight for Calvin at the GVSU Big Meet was the performance of senior Katie Diekema who shattered a school record in the mile run – clocking a time of 4:52.80 that currently ranks fourth in Division III.

Olivet

Three Olivet College women's track & field student-athletes were invited to compete at the Grand Valley State University "Big Meet" Friday, Jan. 8. Freshman Lillian Albaugh broke her own school record in the shot put with a 44 feet, 9-1/2 inch toss. Senior Michaela Kaliniak cleared the bar at 10 feet, 6-3/4 inches in the pole vault. Sophomore Ariel Floyd had a mark of 48 feet, 1/2 inch in the weight throw.


No. 27 Trine

Competed at the GVSU Big Meet (unscored) and the DePauw Invitational (2nd of 12 teams)...Evie Bultemeyer improved her own school record in the mile run (4:54.06) at GVSU...Chloe Brittain and Jensyn Garrow both won events to lead Trine at DePauw. Brittain captured the 800-meter run (2:24.58) and Garrow won the 200-meter dash (26.78 seconds).
