Around the MIAA

Adrian

The Bulldogs will next compete in Florida when the team takes a spring break trip to Orlando in March 4-7.


Albion

The Britons will begin the 2019 spring season Saturday, Feb. 23 against Holy Cross (Ind.).


Alma

The Scots are scheduled to start the 2019 spring season Saturday, Feb. 16 against Cornerstone.


Calvin

Calvin opened its dual match season with a 9-0 win over Beltline rival Cornerstone University Thursday evening inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center. Featuring a lineup of one junior, three sophomores and five freshmen, Calvin flexed its muscle inside its home facility to gain the win. Sophomore Leah Newhof (Grand Rapids, Mich.) cruised to a win at No. 1 singles, defeating Valentine Garcia 6-4, 6-0. Sophomore Madeline Brouwer (Hudsonville, Mich.) came up with a strong come-from-behind effort, winning 4-6, 6-0, 10-7 over Olivia Kelly at No. 2 singles.


Hope

Did not compete. Will return to action Friday, Feb. 15 at Oberlin.


Kalamazoo

The Hornets will return to competition for the spring Saturday, Feb. 16 at Oberlin.


Olivet

The Olivet College women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 9-0 loss to Cornerstone University Feb. 9 at the Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek.


Saint Mary's

The Belles begin the spring portion of their season Saturday, Feb. 16 against St. Francis (Ind.).


Trine

The Thunder will return to action in the spring against King's (Pa.) March 4 in Orlando, Fla.
