The Hope College women's tennis team took three flights from 10th-ranked University of Chicago during a 6-3 non-league loss on Saturday. It was the season opener for the Flying Dutch, who are ranked 39th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division III poll. At No. 1 doubles, juniors Claire Hallock of Lakeland, Florida (Harrison Center HS) and Amanda Bandrowski of Traverse City, Michigan (St. Francis) teamed for an 8-4 victory against Chicago's Marjorie Antohi and Lauren Park. At No. 2 singles, Bandrowski defeated Park, 6-3, 6-3. At No. 3 singles, freshman Sydney Jackson of Fort Wayne, Indiana (Carroll) beat Catherine Wu, 6-4, 6-4.
Kalamazoo
The Hornets will return to competition for the spring Saturday, Feb. 16 at Oberlin.
Olivet
The Comets are slated to start their spring season Saturday, Feb. 9 against Cornerstone.
Saint Mary's
The Belles begin the spring portion of their season Saturday, Feb. 16 against St. Francis (Ind.).
Trine
The Thunder will return to action in the spring against King's (Pa.) March 4 in Orlando, Fla.
