Around the MIAA

Adrian (8-3-2, 2-0-0)

Adrian College extended its win-streak to three behind a 2-0 week in conference play. On Tuesday the Bulldogs took down Olivet 6-0, before traveling to Alma for a 2-1 victory. AC currently ties for first-best conference record with Albion, 2-0, but has the best overall record at 8-3-2. Senior and captain Caroline Fleming led the squad offensively, posting six points on three goals during the span. Trailing by one point was Raquel Church who had five points in the win over Olivet (2 g, 1 a).

Albion (5-3-1, 2-0-0)

All five Albion goals were scored by different players. Kayla Sharp (Farmington, Mich.) scored a first collegiate goal, Ashlyn Wetzel (Stevensville, Mich.) scored her first goal of the season and Megan Piontkowsky (Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored in Albion's 3-1 victory over Saint Mary's College on Tuesday. Rayna Edwards (Manchester, Mich.) and Emily Wolford (Berkley, Mich.) scored in Albion's 2-1 victory over Trine. According to NCAA Live Stats, Albion controlled 66 percent of the possession and had twice the number of shots (14-7) against Trine.

Alma (6-3-1, 1-1-0)

Makenzie Rajewski (Midland, Mich.) scored Alma's first hat trick in five seasons in the team's 3-1 win over Trine on Tuesday (Oct. 1) evening. Rajewski first scored in the 11th minute off an assist by Lily Stephan (DeWitt, Mich.), then in the 51st minute and again in the 59th. Rajewski only took four shots in the game and the three that were on goal all scored. On Friday (Oct. 4), the Scots hosted Adrian at Bahlke Field due to poor field conditions at Scotland Yard. Dakota Booher scored a first career goal in the 71st minute off a free-kick, but Alma fell 2-1.

Calvin (2-7-1, 0-1-0)

No report submitted.

Hope (2-3-5, 1-0-1)

Scoring the most goals in a single game thus far this season, Hope downed Olivet, 3-0, Saturday. The shutout was Hope's fifth of the season. Hope's first goal resulted from offensive pressure after a Flying Dutch corner kick that led to an Olivet own goal at the 22:03 mark. A little over seven minutes, though, senior midfielder Megan Bigelow (Flushing, Mich.) scored a first goal of the season off of an assist by junior Corinne Cole (Saint Paul, Minn.). Twenty minutes into the second half, junior Audrey White (Hudsonville, Mich.) scored Hope's third goal unassisted. It was White's second goal of the season. On Tuesday, Hope lost, 3-2, to eighth-ranked Wheaton at home. Freshman forward Cassidy Broekhuizen (Byron Center, Mich.) and freshman defender Erin Powers (Norton Shores, Mich.) scored for the Flying Dutch.

Kalamazoo (2-5-3, 1-0-1)

Kalamazoo continued its undefeated start to its MIAA slate with a 2-0 victory over Calvin in its lone match of the week. The Hornets received goals from Catie Stamper and Libby Munoz in the win as Emme DeConinck tallied the lone assist of the game. Kalamazoo continues MIAA play with a road contest at Trine on Wednesday before hosting Adrian on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Olivet (4-5-0, 0-2-0)

Olivet lost both MIAA games last week -- 6-0 at Adrian and 3-0 at home to Hope.

Saint Mary's (5-5-0, 0-1-0)

The Belles fell in a 3-1 final at home against Albion in both teams' MIAA opener last week. Becca Stella scored the second career goal for the Belles. Rose Stackhouse added an assist on the goal. Thallia Robles made four saves over the final 46 minutes of play while Kam Lewkowski mad three saves over the opening 44 minutes of action.

Trine (3-5-1, 0-2-0)

The Thunder started the MIAA season with a pair of losses. The team started the week with a 3-1 loss to Alma before forcing overtime with Albion falling 2-1 in extra time. Freshman Jazlynn Davis and junior Courtney Reece scored the team's two goals during the week.
