Albion bounded out to an 8-0 lead, including three goals in the first four minutes, and then held off a Hope rally to defeat the Flying Dutch Saturday evening, 16-14, in the championship game of the 2019 MIAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament.

The Britons (14-4) benefitted from three goals from Chrystelle Lopez in the game's first 12 minutes, along with two goals apiece from Carly Schwarz and Darcy Muns, to assume the driver's seat with an 8-0 lead less than halfway through the first half.

Hope (11-6) dug deep and rallied back, scoring seven of the next eight goals of the game to cut the Albion lead to just two, 9-7, at the halftime break. Hope's Carly Pieri scored three of those goals, including one with one player down.

Hope tied the contest at 11-11 with 14:05 to play and again at 12-12, and 14-14; but the Flying Dutch were never able to take the lead. With the game knotted at 14 with 2:40 to play, Albion's Destiny Okon scored what proved to be the game's decisive goal; teammate Darcy Muns added an insurance strike with 34 seconds remaining.

Lopez and Muns each finished with five goals and one assist to lead Albion offensively. Hope's Pieri tallied five goals and three assists.
