Around the MIAA (through Sept. 29)

Adrian

Adrian competed in the MIAA Jamboree #2 on its home course the Lenawee Country Club, where the Bulldogs were sixth (361) on Sept. 24…but the Bulldogs’ next event, MIAA Jamboree#3 for Sept. 28 at host Trine University, was postponed… Junior Hailey Scott paced Adrian with an 82 on the par-72, 5,808-yard course for seventh place out of 53 golfers to mark her second top-10 showing of the 2019-20 campaign…Scott also leads the squad with an 82.5 stroke average for six rounds…next up, Adrian will be at the MIAA Fall Final in Battle Creek at the Bedford Valley Golf Club this weekend.


Albion

Grace Hoffman's round of 88 helped Albion College to a seventh place finish in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's golf jamboree played at the Lenawee Country Club last Tuesday.


Alma

The Scots finished eighth at the second MIAA Jamboree of the season on Tuesday (Sept. 24) with an overall team score of 370. Alma sits in sixth place after two conference competitions, 23 strokes behind Calvin for fourth place. Saint Mary's leads with a total score of 638. The Scots were led individually by freshman Morgan Yates (Shepherd, Mich.) with a score of 87 to finish tied for 15th place. Sophomore Ava Gardiner (Sterling Heights, Mich.) posted a 92, while freshman Kayleigh Reilly (Mount Pleasant, Mich.) shot a 94 and senior Jennifer Kowalczyk (Northville, Mich.) shot a 97


Calvin

Calvin made a move up the overall MIAA team standings on Tuesday with a third place showing at the second MIAA Jamboree of the fall season. Calvin posted a third place team score of 339 strokes on Tuesday at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian. The score was the lowest-ever score by a Calvin women's golf team at the course. The Knights were led by junior Linnea McDonnough who fired a season-best round of 80 that was good for a tie for third place individually. The score was also the best-ever scored turned in by a Calvin women's golfer at the Adrian Lenawee Country Club. The third place team score bumped Calvin from fifth up to fourth in the overall MIAA team standings.

Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo placed ninth overall at the season's second MIAA Jamboree hosted by Adrian at Lenawee. The Hornets finished at 409 as a team. Darby Scott led the way, carding an 88. Claire Middleton came in second for Kalamazoo with a 98. Katherine Stewart (109) and Amanda Dow (114) also competed for the Hornets. Kalamazoo returns to action on Oct. 2 and 3 at MIAA Jamborees hosted by Trine and Olivet.


Olivet

Olivet was the runner-up at the MIAA Jamboree #2. With the performance, the Comets moved into second-place in the MIAA standings. Senior Nicole Deweyert placed second in the player standings with a 78. Her round included 11 pars and two birdies. Senior Taylor Elley shared fifth-place in the player standings with an 81. She was the only golfer to record an eagle, as she had a 2 on the par 4, 383-yard No. 1 hole. Sophomore Erin Taylor tied for eighth with an 84.


RV Saint Mary's

The Belles shot a 326 to win the second MIAA Jamboree of the fall, which was hosted by Adrian. Hunter Kehoe was the round medalist after posting a 77. Sydney Hruskoci carded an 80 and was tied for third overall. Summer Stillson shot an 81 to tie for fifth in the field. Stillson had 10 pars and was one-over on par five holes in the round, and Erin Bennett wrapped up the team score with an 88 and was tied for 20th.
