Saint Mary's Keilman and Trines Hartline Sisters Garner CoSIDA Academic All-District Accolades

FREELAND, Mich. -- Saint Mary's senior softball team member Kelsey Keilman and senior sisters from Trine, Makenna and Michaela Hartline, were three of only 12 NCAA Division III softball players from Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois to be named to the 2020 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® First Team for District 7.

A native of South Bend, Indiana, Keilman is a two-time All-MIAA honoree and three-time MIAA Position Player of the Week, Keilman boasts a .982 career fielding percentage in the outfield. In the classroom, she had better than a 3.8 cumulative grade point average as a nursing major with minors in both Spanish and biology.

The Niles, Michigan native, Makenna Hartline is the MIAA Position Player of the Year in 2019 and a two-time MIAA Position Player of the Week. Makenna had a .930 career fielding percentage as a shortstop with a .328 batting average with 33 home runs in 3 completed seasons. She is an exercise science major boasting a 3.64 cumulative grade point average.

Michaela Hartline was a First-Team All-MIAA selection in 2019. Michaela has a career fielding average of .956 in the outfield. She is an exercise major and maintained a 3.55 cumulative grade point average.

All three student-athletes are now eligible to be voted on for Academic All-America® consideration.

A student-athlete's performances both in the classroom and in the competitive arena are taken into account for consideration for the honor. To be eligible for Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 (on 4.00 scale), have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors.
