Hope College softball player Shay Pinhey received honors for achievement both in the classroom and on the field May 9 with selection to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Division III Softball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Pinhey (Ann Arbor, Mich.) was voted to the All-District 6 team and is now eligible for Google Cloud Academic All-America® honors.
Pinhey graduated from Hope this month. The softball standout majored in engineering and minored in mathematics with a concentration in biomedical/biomechanical engineering. Pinhey's GPA was 3.62 after the fall semester.
CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 6 includes Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District honors. Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
