Around the MIAA

No. 28 Adrian

The Adrian College men's track and field team had a strong showing at the Hanover Invitational to open the outdoor season this past weekend, finishing in third place. The Bulldogs won 10 events on the day, with senior Jordan Davis leading the way with 22.5 team points. Davis won both the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles and was the third leg on the first-place 4x100 relay team. Freshman Robert Diebold set a new PR in the 5,000-meter with a time of 15:21.25. AC's best event was the high jump, with Daz Lawrence, Nicholas Jackson, and John Hamilton finishing 1-2-3, in that order.

Albion

Andrew Wittland achieved a personal record when he completed the 10,000 meters in 31:45.75 at Washington University last Friday. That is the seventh-fastest all-time in Albion outdoor history…The Viking Olympics at Augustana College last Saturday turned out to be another good meet for Albion's distance crew. Kiehl Smith took first place in the 1,500 meters (4:01.45) and Aaron Weimer was the runner up in the steeplechase (9:52.97). The jumpers got in the act, too, with Jephte Jean-Claude winning the 110 meter hurdles (15.42 seconds) and taking second in the triple jump (45' ¼"). Richard Annorat and Trevor Knowles were among those tied for fourth place in the high jump.

Calvin

Calvin fell to Hope 102-91 in a non-conference dual meet on Friday. Senior Brendan VanHouten highlighted the day for the Knights by winning the shot put, discus and hammer. VanHouten's winning throw of 183-9 in the hammer established a new school record and placed the senior ninth on the NCAA III performance list.

Hope

Junior Josh Izenbart (Glenwood, Ill.) posted first-place performances in three individual events and one relay to help the Flying Dutchmen beat visiting Calvin College, 102-91, during non-league competition. Izenbart sprinted to a winning 110-meter hurdle run of 16.22 seconds and finished first in the javelin with a toss of 49.44 meters. Izenbart also won the high jump by clearing 1.98 meters, and anchored the first-place 4x400 relay. Izenbart along with junior Adam Howard (Jacksonville, Ill.), sophomore Terrell Solberg (Traverse City, Mich.), and freshman Nathaniel Trumble (Granger, Ind.) combined for a time of 43.79.
