Around the MIAA
Adrian was unable to overcome NAIA-foe Lawrence Tech Sept. 4, falling 4-3. Lawrence Tech swept doubles, but Adrian came back to take three singles wins.
Albion will start the fall season Sept. 13 at the Hope College Invitational.
Men's tennis won both its matches 5-4 last week, including a thrilling come-from-behind win against Olivet. Senior David Suidgeest (St. Johns, Mich.) clinched the deciding games in both matches, including a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win over the Comets. In the fifth singles match, junior Tait Morrissey (Big Rapids, Mich.) tied it up at four with a 6-0, 6-2 victory to allow Suidgeest to win it. Suidgeest and junior Brandon Ralston (Cadillac, Mich.) are Alma's two remaining undefeated players after two matches.
Calvin will participate in the Hope College Invitational Sept. 13.

Kalamazoo did not compete. The Hornets will participate in the ITA Central Regional Oct. 4-6 in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Olivet lost two non-conference matches last week, 8-1 to Manchester (Ind.) and 5-4 to Alma. The outcome of the Alma was not decided until the conclusion of the last match. Freshman Sam Vondra won both of his matches at No. 2 singles, and teamed with junior Donald Doyle for a win at No. 2 doubles.
Senior Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind.) was named the MIAA men's tennis Athlete of the Week after a perfect 4-0 record while competing in No. 2 singles and doubles matches.
