The Bulldogs will begin the 2019 season March 4-7 in Orlando, Fla., starting with DeSales Monday, March 4.
Spring Arbor University handed Albion College a 9-0 setback in a non-league men's tennis match inside the Ungrodt Tennis Center Feb. 27.
Did not compete. Will return to action Saturday, March 9 against Manchester (Ind.).
Calvin traveled to the states of Wisconsin and Illinois last week and posted a 4-0 dual match record. The Knights downed Wisconsin-Lutheran, Ripon and Lakeland by 9-0 scores and then topped Lake Forest 8-1 Saturday night. The Knights are off to a 5-1 start. Senior Jose' Larrea led Calvin by going 3-0 at No. 1 singles and was later named MIAA Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
The Hope College men’s tennis team lost to 25th-ranked Denison University (Ohio), 8-1, on Saturday at DeWitt Tennis Center. The Flying Dutchmen earned their point at No. 1 doubles. Senior Mark VanderStoep (Holland, Mich.) and junior Danny Kroeze (Holland, Mich.) defeated Kevin Brown and Blake Burstein at No. 1 doubles, 8-6.
The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team lost 6-3 to Denison University in its lone match of the week. Ian Yi earned a 6-4, 6-4 win at one singles. Daniel Henry's 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at two singles made it a 4-2 contest in favor of Denison with the Big Red's win at four. Denison clinched the match with a three-set win at three singles. Casey Johnson won 6-4, ret. at five singles for Kalamazoo's third point. Kalamazoo is off until spring break when the Hornets play the first of three matches in Georgia and Tennessee beginning March 24.
Did not compete. Olivet returns to competition Saturday, March 23 against Grace Christian (Mich.).
