Around the MIAA (through Feb. 24)


The Bulldogs will begin the 2019 season March 4-7 in Orlando, Fla., starting with DeSales Monday, March 4.


Josh McGarry extended his singles opponent to a tiebreaker to decide the No. 1 match, but Albion College was unable to break through in a 9-0 loss to Holy Cross College on Saturday. Robert Joerg (No. 3 singles) and Patrick Smoker (No. 6 singles) also lost sets in their matches by 7-6 scores.


The Scots dropped a 5-4 matchup against St. Francis on Sunday (Feb. 24). Sophomore Brandon Ralston (Cadillac, Mich.) came from behind to defeat Jay Stanchin 0-6, 6-3, 10-6, while junior Brett Reuter (Armada, Mich.) defeated Tyler Christlieb 6-4 and 7-5, and junior Jadon House (Brighton, Mich.) easily handled Alex Stavretis, 6-1, 6-2.

The Olivet College men's tennis team fell to Indiana University-South Bend, 7-2, in its only match last week. The No. 1 doubles duo of sophomores Donald Doyle and Benjamin Morrow won an 8-6 pro-set. Morrow picked-up a straight set victory at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 7-5. The Comets are now off for almost an entire month and will be back in action Saturday, March 23, when it hosts Grace Christian College at 11 a.m.


The Thunder are scheduled to start the spring season Wednesday, Feb. 27 against Defiance.
