Kalamazoo to host Hope in MIAA Men's Tennis Tournament Championship

Kalamazoo 5, Adrian 0

No. 1 seed Kalamazoo made quick work of Adrian in the 2019 MIAA Men's Tennis Tournament semifinals Thursday, dropping only one game in doubles and posting two 6-0, 6-0 singles sweeps to advance to the MIAA Championship match. 

Ian Yi and Tytus Metzler were two-time winners for the Hornets; Yi paired with Daniel Henry for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles and then went on to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles against Adrian's Nathan Waterbury, while Metzler was an 8-0 winner at No. 3 doubles with Alex Cadigan prior to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.


Hope 5, Calvin 1

Host Hope won twice in doubles and added three singles wins to defeat Calvin 5-1 in the second MIAA Men's Tennis Tournament semifinal. Hope will travel to top seed Kalamazoo for the MIAA Tournament Championship Saturday, May 4 at 12 p.m.

Hope started with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. From there, the Flying Dutchmen won in straight sets at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles. Danny Kroetze was a two-time winner with victories at No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles; Michael Kiley won twice at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles.
