Around the MIAA
The Bulldogs were dealt a tough 6-1 loss by No. 3 Calvin College in its last non-conference matchup of the season. Senior Zach Combs recorded the Bulldogs' lone tally, while Nathan Bresnay made his first-collegiate appearance in the second half, making a team-best five saves, letting up no goals. Adrian is ranked No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches Central Region poll.

The Scots struggled against Hope College in a 4-0 non-conference loss on Wednesday (Oct. 2). The Flying Dutch came out immediately aggressive. Ryan Flynn, with the assistance of Nic Kubert, scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute. Hope continued to apply pressure and scored two more goals in the first half. The Flying Dutch added another goal in the 89th minute. Senior Garrison Mast (Grand Haven, Mich.) tallied a total of eight saves in the game; he now has 58 on the year, the second most in the MIAA.

Hope earned a healthy advantage in shots against Alma College on Wednesday. The Flying Dutchmen converted enough of them to claim a 4-0 victory on a rainy night at Van Andel Soccer Stadium. After a match against a MIAA rival that did not count toward the league standings, Hope improved its overall record to 7-4. Four different goal scorers powered the Flying Dutchmen: sophomore midfielder Ryan Flynn (Bloomington, Ill.), sophomore forward Alec Belcastro (Washington, Pa.), junior midfielder Ty Dalton (Rockford, Mich.) and sophomore midfielder Griffin Bruso (Bloomington, Ill.). The shutout was Hope’s sixth of the season. Hope is ranked No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Central Region poll.
Did not compete. The Hornets are ranked No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches Central Region poll and are receiving votes in the coaching association's national poll.
Did not play last week. Olivet starts MIAA play Tuesday with a 4 p.m. game at Alma College.
Defeated Indiana University-Northwest, 5-3, to end a three-game winless streak. Senior Nooh Aljabaly scored a pair of goals and added three assists to lead Trine offensively.
