Hope Falls in Overtime to John Carroll at NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship

The Hope College men's lacrosse team pushed its first NCAA Division III Tournament opponent to overtime on Tuesday before falling, 7-6, to John Carroll University (Ohio) in Rochester, N.Y.

The Flying Dutchmen finished the season with a 14-4 record — the second-best in team history.

John Carroll (13-6) advanced to a second-round game at top-ranked host RIT (18-1) on Wednesday.

Colin Corcoran scored the game-winning goals with 30 seconds remaining in the first overtime. John Carroll was 12 seconds into playing with a man-advantage after a Hope offsides penalty.

The Flying Dutchmen forced overtime when defender Andrew Caris (Hartland, Mich.) scored with 4:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.
