Around the MIAA

Adrian

Andrew Skibski and freshman AJ Clark led Adrian to a third-place showing with a 315 team score at the seven-school Steven Tyler Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by Kalamazoo College on Monday at the Moors Golf Club….Skibski and Clark both shot a 76 for a third-place tie overall…that was the Bulldogs first competition since the Pfeiffer University Invitational in Hardeeville, S.C., on March 4-5…it also marks the team’s second-straight third-place finish for an event—a season’s best…Skibski continues to lead Adrian with a 74.8 score for 13 rounds…The Bulldogs return to action this weekend at the College of Wooster Nye Intercollegiate Tournament at the Wooster (Ohio) Country Club. Saturday's first round begins at noon, followed by the final 18 holes at 11 a.m. Sunday.


Albion

Soti Michalos turned in a round of 78 to help Albion achieve a 331 total in the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate at The Moors Golf Club...Michalos received support from Jack Welke (81), Jack Hines (85) and Sam Hibbs (87).


Alma

Alma will not compete in a spring season for men's golf.


RV Calvin

Calvin moved into the Division III Golf Coaches Association National poll last week, securing the No. 21 spot in the poll. Calvin then competed in a field of nationally-ranked teams at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational last weekend. Over the duration of the 36-hole weekend tournament, Calvin posted a final team score of 599 strokes (300-299). Senior Sam Kuiper led the way for the Knights with a two-day total of 146 strokes (73-73) to finish tied for eighth place individually.


No. 12 Hope

The Flying Dutchmen finished second at the 21-team Illinois Wesleyan Invitational last weekend after shooting a 36-hole total of 588 (293-288). Senior Josh Gibson (Grandville, Mich.) finished in third place in the individual standings. The senior shot rounds of 70-71 (141) to only trail winner Drew Pershing of IWU by two strokes and runner-up Evan MacLean of Parkland College by one.


Kalamazoo

The Kalamazoo College men's golf team took first place at the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate hosted by the Hornets at The Moors on Monday. Kalamazoo shot 310 overall to win the event, finishing three strokes ahead of Trine and five ahead of Adrian.


Olivet

The Olivet College men's golf team tied for fifth-place this afternoon at the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate, hosted by Kalamazoo College at The Moors Golf Club in Portage.


Trine

Sophomore Carlos Coeto (Bernardo, Mexico) finished in a tie for third overall to help lead the Trine University men's golf team to a second place finish at the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by Kalamazoo at The Moors Golf Club in Portage, Mich April 8.
