Around the MIAA (through Nov. 24 games)

Adrian (2-3, 0-0)

The Bulldogs went 1-1 over the weekend, kicking it off with a 80-77 win over Mount Union on Saturday. On Sunday AC fell by a narrow margin, just missing the mark against Muskingum in the 83-78 battle. Senior Jeremy Kalonji was consistent throughout the week, collecting a team-best 48 points and 12 rebounds. Starting guard Jordan Harris was not far behind with 11 rebounds and 42 points.

Albion (3-1, 0-0)

Albion College shot 82 percent from the field in the second half as it overwhelmed Earlham College for a 95-71 victory… All five Briton starters scored in double figures, but Caden Ebeling (Shelby Township, Mich.) enjoyed a remarkable night. Ebeling hit 13-of-14 shots from the field and matched a career scoring high with 31 points. According to NCAA statistics for Division III, only two players have a higher field goal percentage in a game this season. Ebeling also corralled eight rebounds… Quinton Armstrong (Nashville, Tenn.), Ebeling's frontcourt mate, added 13 points. He hit all four of his shots from the field… The backcourt chipped in, too. Cortez Garland (Detroit, Mich.) and Juwan Perry (Gurnee, Ill.) finished with 11 points apiece, while Jamezell Davis, Jr. (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and Josh Palo (Howell, Mich.) finished with 10 each.

Alma (1-2, 0-0)

Alma erased a 13-point deficit in the final four minutes to overcome Oberlin College 89-81 in overtime on Saturday (Nov. 23). It is the Scots' first win of the year after suffering two setbacks to start the season. Alma ended regulation on a 15-3 run to tie the game at 73 thanks, in part, to a clutch performance from Cole Kleiver (Williamston, Mich.). Kleiver converted an and-1 with 55 seconds left, then drained the game-tying three-pointer with 10 seconds left. In the extra period, he got another and-1 to go to push Alma's lead to four, then hit the dagger three-pointer with 41 seconds left to put the game to rest. Kleiver finished with 25 points on 9-of-18 shooting and 12 rebounds.

Calvin (1-2, 0-0)

Calvin’s had only one game this past week where they fell to Anderson 87-81. Thad Shymanksi had 30 points in the lost with 20 of them coming in the first half. Derrick DeVries had 25 points with 11 rebound as well. The Knights out rebounded Anderson 46-16 in the lost.

Hope (3-0, 0-0)

Hope recorded an 82-64 non-conference victory against Anderson that improved the Flying Dutchmen to 3-0 on the season. Junior forward Preston Granger (Lansing, Mich.) scored a game-high 22 points. Senior guard Riley Lewis (Williamston, Mich.) added 16 points. Sophomore guard Tyler George (Ada, Mich.) had 14.

Kalamazoo (3-2, 0-0)

Kalamazoo improved to 3-2 on the season with a pair of wins over Bluffton and Case Western Reserve this week. Tanner Blyly led the Hornets with 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting in the first game. Jack Smith gave the team a spark off the bench with nine points and making five steals on the defensive end. In game two, Kalamazoo was led by Thomas Cook's 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting. Jeremiah Vincent and Ben Reiter also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Junior Bass Ollie added nine points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. The Hornet defense held every player under 10 points as Case Western's leading scorer ended the game with just eight points. Kalamazoo returns to play on Saturday, Nov. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 1 when it hosts John Carroll and North Central.

Olivet (1-2, 0-0)

Olivet suffered an 81-51 loss at Wheaton (Ill.) in its only game last week. Junior Chris Martin paced Olivet with 12 points. Freshman Britton Angell added 10 points off the bench. Junior Jared Long pulled down a team-best six rebounds.

Trine (3-2, 0-0)

Defeated both Muskingum (95-73) and Mount Union (80-78) during the week... Langston Johnson averaged 23.0 ppg. for the week, including scoring a career-high 31 points in win against Mount Union.
