The Hope College football team was the first on the scoreboard in their 2019 NCAA Division III Football Championship, but visiting Wartburg rattled off 41 consecutive points to defeat the Flying Dutchmen 41-3 Nov. 23 at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium.
Sam Allbritten put Hope on the board in the first quarter, connecting on a 28-yard field goal. Wartburg (10-1) was fueled by Noah Dodd, who threw for four touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown. Brandan Childs reeled in three of those touchdown passes, including two in the second quarter.
Hope ended the 2019 season with a 9-2 record - the nine wins ties a program record. Hope also set a school record for most points in a season with 463, breaking the previous mark of 392 set last season.
