Trine University football standouts Lamar Carswell (Sr., RB, Toledo, Ohio) and Jeffery Barnett (Sr., Specialist, Fremont, Ohio) added to their litany of postseason honors Dec. 14 with their selection as Associated Press NCAA Division III First-Team All-Americans.
Carswell led the nation in rushing with 2,294 yards and was a school single-season record and his 208.5 yards per game average was also tops in the nation. Earlier this year, Carswell was named the MIAA Offensive Most Valuable Player and was a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy.
Barnett was one of the top kickoff return threats in the nation who averaged 39.0 yards per return which ranked second highest among Division III schools. He also set Trine single-season records with three returns for touchdowns and kick return average (39.0).
Both Carswell and Barnett were named AFCA All-Americans earlier this month.
