Freeland, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) will be hosting its first Rocket League tournament. The idea came to Commissioner, Penny Allen-Cook, to spur up some excitement for the spring when every sport, including e-sports, stopped. Allen-Cook stated, “I am super excited to be able to offer this opportunity to the one set of student-athletes that can compete remotely. I think that bringing in other private institutions to join us in this tournament will make it a much more exciting competition.”
This tournament will include six Midwest independent colleges and universities teams including:
- Alma College
- Aquinas College
- Concordia University Ann Arbor
- Davenport University
- Muskingum University
- Trine University
These teams will be competing in a 3 Vs.3 Double Elimination tournament. These games will be decided by a Best of 5 game format.
The tournament is set to begin May 9th at 11:00 AM and will continue with a series of online events on Saturday morning’s ending on May 30th, where the inaugural MIAA Rocket League Tournament champion will be crowned!
