Freeland, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) is proud to announce the addition of Lauren Bryne to the conference office staff as its new Assistant Commissioner.
“I am excited to bring Lauren on board with the MIAA,” said Commissioner Penny Allen-Cook. “Her enthusiasm, love of sport, and her experience in a high volume sports information office at Wayne State University (MI) will be very valuable to the MIAA membership. She is a great fit to carry on the continued engagement of our SAAC, to increase our social media presence, and improve our championship game day experience. We look forward to her arrival.”
Bryne joins the MIAA after spending two academic years as a Sports Information Graduate Intern at Wayne State University (2018-20). In her time at WSU, she covered cross country, tennis, and swimming and diving, while also assisting with football, basketball, and softball. In addition, Bryne had the opportunity to serve as the representing SID at both the 2019 GLIAC Swimming and Diving Championships and the 2019 NCAA Men's and Women's Midwest Regional Tennis Tournament.
Bryne worked on both the Detroit Tigers Foundation Event Staff and the Detroit Lions Gameday Marketing Promotional Team during the 2019 season. She has also been volunteering with the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame since 2019.
"I feel so honored to be selected assistant commissioner for such a prestigious conference, not to mention the oldest in the country," Bryne commented. "I am looking forward to serving alongside MIAA commissioner Penny Allen-Cook and working with the members of the league."
Bryne graduated from Wayne State University in April 2020 with a master's degree in Sports Administration. She received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 2018.
Bryne is slated to begin her new role with the MIAA on August 15, 2020.
