On Tuesday, Olivet's Zach Oshinsky (Sr., P, West Bloomfield, Mich.) was named to the D3baseball.com's National Team of the Week after his save performance in Olivet's opening day of play for the 2018 season.
Oshinsky earned the save in Olivet's 7-6 win over Wis.-Platteville. With the Comets holding a 7-5 lead, the bases were loaded and he inherited a 3-0 count on the first batter that he faced. That batter looked at the next two pitches for strikes and swung through the next pitch for the strikeout. The next hitter walked on a full count to bring in a run and re-load the bases. The next two batters were called out on strikes on 2-2 counts. That was Oshinsky's first appearance on the mound in close to a year after suffering a season-ending injury early last season.
The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its seventh season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors.
