Commissioner's Cup

2011-12 Champion Determination

Commissoner's Cup / All Sports Award
Criteria for the Commissioner's Cup in 2011-12 shall be based on participation in eight men's sports and eight women's sports. Separate all-sports awards will be presented in men's and women's sports.  Each award will be based on participation in eight of nine sports. The Commissioner's Cup award is determined by adding the totals of the two all-sports awards.

Baseball
The MIAA baseball champion shall be determined based upon best won-loss record in MIAA conference play. The tournament champion will qualify for the NCAA championships.

Basketball (Men & Women)
The MIAA men’s and women’s basketball champions shall be determined based upon best won-loss record in MIAA conference play. The tournament champion will qualify for the NCAA championships.

Cross Country (Men & Women)
The MIAA men’s and women’s cross country champions shall be determined by two conference meets – a Jamboree that counts one-third toward the final standings and the championship meet, which counts two-thirds toward the final standings.

Football
The MIAA football champion shall be determined based upon best won-loss record in MIAA conference play. The regular season champion will qualify for the NCAA championships.

Golf (Men and Women)
The MIAA men’s and women’s golf champions shall be determined based upon lowest total cumulative strokes in MIAA fall conference matches. The spring tournament champion will qualify for the NCAA championships.

Soccer (Men and Women)
The MIAA men’s and women’s soccer champions shall be determined by a point system in which teams earn three (3) points for a win and one (1) point for a tie in conference play. The team with the most points at the end of the season will be declared the champion. The tournament champion will qualify for the NCAA championships.

Softball
The MIAA softball champion shall be determined based upon best won-loss record in MIAA conference play. The tournament champion will qualify for the NCAA championships.

Swimming (Men & Women)
The MIAA men’s and women’s swimming and diving champions shall be determined solely by the outcome of the end-of-season conference championship meet.

Tennis (Men and Women)
The MIAA men’s and women’s tennis champions shall be determined based upon best won-loss record in MIAA conference dual matches. The tournament champion will qualify for the NCAA championships.

Track (Men and Women)
The MIAA men’s and women’s track and field champions shall be determined based upon two conference meets - a True Team Jamboree and the conference championship meet, also known as Field Day. The two meets each count one-half toward determining the final conference standings.

Volleyball
The MIAA volleyball champion shall be determined based upon best won-loss record in MIAA conference play. The tournament champion will qualify for the NCAA championships.
